Malt Tour #2, brewed 200910somthing Lost my notes on this one, but I'll give an overview. This is the first in a series of very similar brews. The only variable is the "specialty" grains. Ingredients: 8lb 2-row 1lb Crystal 40L 1oz Amarillo 1tsp Irish Moss Nottingham Yeast Mash schedule: Sacch: 155F for 60min Mashout: 165F for 10 min Sparge: Single batch sparge for 15min. Boil additions: 1oz Amarillo at first runnings. 1oz Irish Moss for 15 minutes. 20091010, kegged. 20091011, pulled a pint today, it's a little undercarbed yet. Tastes like beer. A little insipid. It's got some twang in the nose... maybe acid. Alot of my lighter beers have this taste. Malty finish with a very mild hop bitterness. 20091204, starting to think that that "twang" is chlorophenols or something. It could be a mash pH problem to, wardlabs test showed high RA. Darker beers are better for sure.
